Internships
Do you love baby goats & adventures? Harrison Farm offers internship opportunities!
Many of our interns utilize their time at the farm in conjunction with a collegiate-level academic requirement, but we also welcome those who are not attending college. We have had interns finishing their high school careers, college students seeking an opportunity to expand their skills, and adults who want to learn more about what it takes to run a farm. We ask our interns to dedicate a few hours 1-4 days per week, be open to adventure, and be willing to learn about all parts of a diverse farm focused on local foods, agritourism, and education. We provide hands on animal handling skills, the opportunity to learn & network, a wonderful community at the farm, and unlimited goat snuggles.
Please email for more details, and include information on your favorite animal. While farming is never easy, I can promise this is the most challenging internship that will change your life in amazing ways you never could have imagined. And you will walk away with abundant random goat facts that will wow any audience!
Learn more about being an intern …
My time at Harrison Farm began in fulfillment of an internship for my Animal Science degree at The Ohio State University, but the farm became much more than a place of work. Harrison Farm was instrumental in my path to graduate school and my development as a leader and mentor. Katherine cultivates an environment that teaches responsibility, self-efficacy, professionalism, integrity, and kindness in those who work with her — while providing opportunities to learn the ins and outs of farming. My experience was one in which I was supported as I found my individual strengths and was encouraged to utilize them throughout my internship. I walked away from my time at the farm fortified by pride in my work and in the Harrison Farm community, which made me feel valued and appreciated. My time at the farm was a unique experience in my life and one that had an indelible impact on my character. As I now work as a researcher in pursuit of my PhD, I work in pursuit of answers that support animal health and carry the confidence and integrity Harrison Farm was instrumental in teaching me. I am a better mentor, researcher, and friend because of the lessons I learned from Katherine, who was one of my most influential mentors.

I served as an intern on Harrison Farm for the 2019 summer season while attending graduate school at The Ohio State University, and the farm has become a part of my life ever since. Goatherd Katherine is a fantastic mentor who is dedicated to helping her interns feel empowered, grow, and achieve their personal goals. The farm offers a space for young people to learn more about animal husbandry, business management, environmental stewardship, biosecurity, and food science through hands-on applications. My experience with the farm was invaluable, not only for the professional skills I developed but also for the meaningful connections I made with the land, animals, and people.
Harrison Farm also serves as an educational resource for the Central Ohio area, helping to reconnect people to agriculture and their food. Farm tours, goat yoga, and farm-to-table events help to teach visitors about sustainable farming practices, animal care, and the benefits of locally sourced, healthy food. It's this commitment to education and community engagement that continues to inspire individuals to appreciate the origins of their food and the value of local agriculture.

The farm's mission to enrich lives by fostering connections with animals and farming is evident in every aspect of their work. Hands-on learning opportunities in farming practices and animal care are educational and deeply inspiring. The mentorship program provided invaluable skills and guidance, helping me discover my passion for agriculture and ultimately launching a successful career. During a transformative time in my life, the farm team's expertise and encouragement were instrumental in my personal growth. The farm is not just a place of learning but a hub of innovation and community, cultivating knowledge and profound appreciation for the agricultural industry.
