Volunteering
How to get started
Harrison Farm offers volunteer opportunities year-round! We welcome volunteers starting at middle-school age (with parental supervision). Opportunities are available for students looking to fulfill volunteer hours, and adults who want to connect with farming. Please email the farm to learn more about volunteering!
Learn more about being a volunteer:
I began my connection to the farm in 2021 after participating in a goat yoga class. I met Katherine Harrison, the owner of the farm, and knew I wanted to stay connected. She spoke about the farm with so much love for her animals and the people that surrounded her. At the time, I was seeking a volunteer opportunity with animals that would encourage me to get outside after days spent working in a corporate office setting.
The farm has grown into so much more than just a volunteer opportunity for me. I have new friends and a chosen "farm family" I never expected to gain from this experience. I have learned so much about myself and the world around me, and I attribute that to Katherine and her farm of loveable creatures. I would not be the person I am today without her.

What Harrison Farm means to me:
Harrison Farm, 2 words, 4 syllables, 12 letters, yet this name holds an infinite amount of weight in my heart. Harrison Farm has taught me things that nothing else could have taught me. I have learned to nurture and appreciate life, as well as tough lessons about death and the circle of life. The farm has taught me grit, perseverance, and how to be at peace even if I am dissatisfied. Harrison Farm has changed my life in more ways than I have words. It is a place where I find peace and acceptance. Katherine Harrison provides a place where I can constantly learn not just about the animals and land but about myself. It is an honor to be able be a part of this amazing place.

It will be 4 years ago this spring that I was introduced to Katherine Harrison and her amazing farm. In this time I have learned to appreciate and be centered in the quiet moments when I am simply watching and keeping an eye on the animals as they graze. I have learned when to take a step back, process, analyze, and most importantly listen. I have also learned to look for the details and observe even the smallest things. However, the most important thing that I have been taught is from Katherine herself. In the harshest moments she has a determination to keep going that is unbelievable and admirable. She shows all living creatures such compassion and honors those who have passed in such a remarkable way. Harrison Farm is a place where a person not only goes to learn about the animals and the farm but comes away learning about themselves. I am grateful beyond words for Katherine Harrison and the unruly animals of Harrison Farm. It is at Harrison Farm that I am most centered.
